Birth Doula

“She helped us to make our birth plan, bringing to our attention things which we may have otherwise not have thought about. Once I had gone into labour, we called Helen who arrived armed with her positive and cheerful nature and all her birthing aids. She was an excellent support the whole way through the labour, both practically and emotionally.” – Kate

“Helen is calm in a crisis, but also proactive in protecting the birth space. She is completely non-judgemental regarding birth and parenting choices and acts to the interest of her clients” – Lea

How do I book you as my Doula?

Firstly, we have an initial online meeting (which is free).  This is a good opportunity for us to meet and ask any questions.

If you decide that having me as your Birth Doula is right for you, we then arrange two in person antenatal visits.  During these visits, we build up a strong bond of trust.  We work on breathing techniques, birthing positions, relaxation etc., as well as discussing birth ideas/plans, any fears or anxieties and relevant treatments.

I’ll never push ideas onto you that you are not comfortable with, but I’ll give you the information that you need to make the choices that are right for you.

You will have continuity of care throughout your pregnancy and labour.  I’ll be on call, 24 hours a day, 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after your due date.  When you go into labour, I’ll be there for you until your baby is born and you are both settled.

I offer 2 postnatal visits to make sure you are doing ok and that your transition into parenthood is as smooth as possible and this can include breastfeeding support if required.

“Due to having a traumatic birth with my daughter, I often felt bouts of anxiety during my second pregnancy (I had alot of sleepless nights). I took my time to research and make contact with a few doulas. I felt an instance connection with Helen she was very generous with her time, I never felt rushed. The support I received from Helen before, during and after was invaluable i wouldn’t have had the positive birthing experience I had without her.” – Ayisha

Here’s an interview I did with the wonderful EFT trainer and Master Tania A Prince if you want to find out more about my work as a doula and how I use my therapy skills in the work I do as a doula particularly EFT

“Helen was my antenatal teacher and doula. I was a very nervous first timer and throughout my pregnancy and labour she was always there to answer any of my questions and there were many! Her techniques and advice made me feel more relaxed and confident. I had a tough and long labour and Helen was there through every step helping both me and and my partner. I couldn’t have done it without her and would highly recommend her to anyone having a baby!” – Sally
